A New Jersey family is grieving the heartbreaking loss of their 6-year-old daughter, Lucy Morgan, who tragically passed away after a freak accident during a family vacation.

The accident happened while Lucy was watching her family play badminton. Suddenly, a racquet broke during a swing, and a sharp piece of metal from the handle flew off, striking Lucy in the head. The impact caused a catastrophic brain injury.

Lucy’s father, Pastor Jesse Morgan, shared the painful details on his blog, New Creation Living. He recalled how June 1 began like any other day during their vacation in Limerick, Maine, but quickly turned tragic. He now finds comfort in believing that Lucy is with Jesus.

After the accident, Lucy was unresponsive but still breathing on her own. Her mother, Bethany, accompanied her in the ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she was stabilized before being airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland. The severity of Lucy’s injury was immediately clear.

Doctors performed emergency surgery, removing part of her skull to relieve pressure on her brain. Despite their efforts, they warned the family that Lucy’s chances of recovery were very slim. Jesse shared that Lucy had recently expressed a wish to be saved and live with God, a moment that brought the family some peace amidst the pain.

Lucy had prayed to God for forgiveness and expressed her faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection just weeks before the accident. This deep faith became a source of comfort to her family during the dark days that followed.

Despite all medical efforts, Lucy never regained consciousness. The damage caused by the metal piece was too severe. On the morning of June 5, she peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family, now “seeing Jesus face to face,” as Jesse shared.

In the days leading to her passing, Jesse wrote of the family’s anguish but also their hope for a miracle. Though devastated, they held onto their faith and the outpouring of love from friends, family, and their community.

The family has been supported by many, including friends, church members, and even former teachers who praised Jesse’s character and faith. A GoFundMe page created to help with medical and living expenses has raised overwhelming support, a testament to the love surrounding the Morgans.

While this loss is immeasurable, the family’s story reminds us of the power of faith, community, and love. Lucy’s brief life touched many, and her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her and those who hear her story. In the midst of tragedy, there is still hope — hope that peace, comfort, and healing will follow.
