Her family confirmed that she was surrounded by loved ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For millions of viewers, Fabares became a familiar face through her role as Mary Stone on <em>The Donna Reed Show<\/em>. She joined the series in 1958 and quickly became one of television\u2019s most recognizable young stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But her career went far beyond television.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During her time on <em>The Donna Reed Show<\/em>, Fabares also launched a successful singing career. Her 1962 hit <strong>\u201cJohnny Angel\u201d<\/strong> reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of the songs most closely associated with her name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She later appeared alongside Elvis Presley in three films: <em>Girl Happy<\/em>, <em>Spinout<\/em>, and <em>Clambake<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Decades after becoming famous as a teenager, Fabares found a whole new generation of fans as Christine Armstrong on the hit sitcom <em>Coach<\/em>. She starred opposite Craig T. Nelson, and her performance earned her two Primetime Emmy Award nominations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Behind the scenes, Fabares also faced serious health challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis and underwent a <strong>liver transplant in 2000<\/strong>. She later became an advocate for organ donation and also supported Alzheimer&#8217;s awareness after seeing her mother struggle with the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fabares was married to actor Mike Farrell, best known for playing Capt. B.J. Hunnicutt on <em>M<\/em>A<em>S<\/em>H*.
