The children rarely played outside, and their father always seemed distant. I believed the rumors too\u2014until one afternoon, curiosity got the better of me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I looked through a narrow gap in the fence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What I saw made me question everything I thought I knew about them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The seven children were gathered around a large wooden table beneath an old shed.
