He studied English and drama at the University of Birmingham before beginning his professional acting career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His breakthrough came when he was cast as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the stage musical <em>The Rocky Horror Show<\/em>. He later reprised the role in the 1975 film <em>The Rocky Horror Picture Show<\/em>, turning the character into one of cinema\u2019s most unforgettable cult icons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Curry continued to showcase his incredible range throughout his career. He appeared in <em>Clue<\/em>, <em>Legend<\/em>, <em>Home Alone 2: Lost in New York<\/em>, <em>Annie<\/em>, <em>The Three Musketeers<\/em>, <em>Muppet Treasure Island<\/em>, <em>Congo<\/em> and many other films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1990, he delivered one of his most famous performances as Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the television adaptation of Stephen King\u2019s <em>It<\/em>. His chilling portrayal became one of the defining horror performances of its era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Curry was much more than a film actor. He built an impressive career in voice acting, lending his distinctive voice to animated projects including <em>The Wild Thornberrys<\/em>, <em>Gargoyles<\/em> and <em>Peter Pan &amp; the Pirates<\/em>. His performance as Captain Hook earned him a Daytime Emmy Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also remained deeply connected to theater. Curry appeared in major productions on both sides of the Atlantic and received multiple Tony Award nominations. One of his notable later performances was as King Arthur in the Broadway musical <em>Spamalot<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2012, Curry suffered a major stroke that permanently affected his mobility.
