{"id":18302,"date":"2026-08-27T12:35:40","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T12:35:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cehre.net\/?p=18302"},"modified":"2026-08-27T12:35:41","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T12:35:41","slug":"phil-collins-says-his-ongoing-health-struggles-require-24-hour-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cehre.net\/?p=18302","title":{"rendered":"Phil Collins Says His Ongoing Health Struggles Require 24-Hour Care"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Phil Collins has opened up about the serious health challenges he continues to face, revealing that he now receives <strong>24-hour care<\/strong> because of complications from a spinal injury dating back to 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During an interview with Zoe Ball on the BBC\u2019s <em>Eras<\/em> podcast, the legendary musician explained that he has a live-in nurse who helps make sure he takes his medication properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have a 24-hour live-in nurse,\u201d Collins said, describing years of physical problems and nerve damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His health struggles have included severe problems with his knees. Collins has undergone <strong>five knee surgeries<\/strong> and says he currently has only one functioning knee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He can still walk, but he needs assistance such as crutches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Collins previously spoke about his physical limitations during Genesis\u2019 farewell tour in 2022. At the time, he performed as the band\u2019s frontman while his son Nic played drums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He admitted that being unable to perform behind the drums with his son was deeply frustrating and questioned whether he wanted to tour again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately, touring also contributed to a worsening of his health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Collins revealed that his past drinking eventually took a serious toll on his body, including his kidneys. He spent months in the hospital after his health deteriorated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The experience became a major wake-up call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Collins decided to <strong>stop drinking completely<\/strong> and recently marked two years of sobriety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although he described the past few years as difficult and frustrating, he said that things are now \u201call right.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite everything he has experienced, Collins remains grateful for his family and his extraordinary music career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said he is incredibly proud of his children and feels fortunate to have watched them build lives of their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking back on his career, Collins also expressed gratitude for the incredible journey music gave him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a musician who spent decades performing around the world, his life has changed dramatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But even while facing serious physical challenges, Phil Collins continues to look back with gratitude\u2014and forward with determination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/youtube.com\/watch?v=u1DAS1I_AIg%3Fsi%3DhybwjWwTovUtVixF\n<\/div><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Phil Collins has opened up about the serious health challenges he continues to face, revealing that he now receives 24-hour care because of complications from a spinal injury dating back to 2007.
