Early this morning, I was walking along the beach when something unusual caught my attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At first, I thought it was just debris washed ashore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then I saw it move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Slowly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The strange object had an almost translucent surface that reflected the morning light like glass. Beneath it, faint shadows shifted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I should have walked away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Instead, I crouched down for a closer look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s when I noticed the tail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It moved once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each movement left a strange line in the wet sand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I had no idea what kind of creature I was looking at.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then I heard something from the ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A deep, distant sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At first, I assumed it was a boat somewhere beyond the horizon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But there were no boats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sound came again\u2014longer this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I stood and stared toward the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The waves were unusually calm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then, for a few seconds, they seemed almost to stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I turned back toward the creature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Its tail moved again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But this time, I noticed something that made my stomach drop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It wasn’t simply moving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It seemed to be pointing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Straight at me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I slowly stepped backward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then I saw a dark shape rise briefly beyond the breaking waves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And disappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I stared at the ocean, wondering if I had imagined it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I looked back at the creature, it was completely still.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The beach fell silent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then that same deep sound came from the sea again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Only this time…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
