Georgina Lightning, a celebrated Indigenous actor, filmmaker and advocate, has died at 63 following a tragic incident at a rodeo event in Alberta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lightning was attending the Indian Relay event at the Enoch Rodeo Grounds on September 5 while filming a documentary. According to RCMP, she was taking photographs from a media area when a horse reportedly veered off course and struck her. Despite efforts by paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But Lightning\u2019s legacy was far greater than the heartbreaking circumstances of her death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She spent more than three decades working in film and television, appearing in projects including Auf Wiedersehen, Pet<\/em>, The West Wing<\/em>, Walker, Texas Ranger<\/em>, Trickster<\/em>, Three Pines<\/em> and Land<\/em>.
