A familiar face from classic Hollywood and some of America\u2019s most beloved television shows has died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nina Shipman has passed away at 88.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Shipman died on September 6, 2026, of natural causes at a hospital in Gardena, California, according to her stepdaughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Her name may not be immediately recognizable to everyone\u2014but her face appeared alongside some of the biggest stars and on some of the most iconic shows of television’s golden age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She appeared in Bonanza, Perry Mason, The Andy Griffith Show, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Munsters, Rawhide, The Mod Squad, Adam-12<\/strong> and many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Her Hollywood story began long before her own career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Shipman came from a remarkable entertainment family. Her grandmother, Nell Shipman, was a celebrated silent-film actress, while her father worked as a screenwriter and her mother was a dancer and actress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nina even appeared in Alfred Hitchcock\u2019s Vertigo<\/strong> in 1958 before going on to work with stars including Bing Crosby and Fred MacMurray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One of her most unusual roles came on The Munsters<\/strong>, where she played a transformed version of Grandpa Munster in a memorable 1965 episode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But acting was only part of her extraordinary life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She was also an accomplished pianist, author, television host, educator and mentor.
