A suspected poacher was killed by a herd of elephants while allegedly attempting to hunt white rhinos in South Africa\u2019s Kruger National Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports, two men entered the wildlife reserve carrying a rifle and an axe, allegedly planning to hunt rhinos for their valuable horns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But before they could carry out the hunt, they encountered a herd of elephants resting beneath the trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When the elephants charged, the two men ran in different directions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of them, reportedly preparing to shoot, was slower to escape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A source from Kruger National Park told the Daily Mail that the elephants quickly overran him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rangers later discovered his body after the surviving suspect reported that his accomplice was missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The surviving suspect was arrested by South African police and is awaiting criminal trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to South African National Parks spokesperson JP Louw, authorities received information that two suspected poachers had illegally entered the park through the Pafuri area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The surviving man reportedly told authorities that he heard screaming while fleeing the elephants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He later led rangers to the area where the body was discovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
