The five girls and four boys were born prematurely at 30 weeks by Caesarean section and required specialized medical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interestingly, there really was a surprise during Ciss\u00e9&#8217;s pregnancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doctors in Mali initially believed she was carrying <strong>seven babies<\/strong>. After she was transferred to a specialist clinic in Morocco, doctors discovered that she was actually carrying <strong>nine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That real detail may help explain why later online stories about an \u201cunexpected extra baby\u201d sound believable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it does <strong>not<\/strong> establish that a tenth baby was discovered during a delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guinness continues to list the Ciss\u00e9 nonuplets as the surviving record holders. In May 2026, Guinness reported that the nine children had reached their fifth birthday and were preparing to start school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There have also been other viral claims about women supposedly giving birth to 10 babies, but extraordinary social-media claims are not the same as verified medical records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The real story is already incredible:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Nine babies.
