Country music artist and actress Jillian Cardarelli, 33, has revealed that she is undergoing treatment for breast cancer after noticing changes in her body that didn\u2019t feel normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cardarelli was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma in May. She said she had previously been monitored for dense breast tissue, but nothing concerning had been found during earlier ultrasounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then she noticed something different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI knew my body,\u201d Cardarelli said, explaining that she had also been feeling more tired than usual. During a photo shoot, she became unusually exhausted after just three outfit changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Around the same time, she discovered a lump in her breast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although the area contained dense tissue, Cardarelli trusted her instincts and decided to have it checked. Doctors eventually discovered a malignant tumor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The diagnosis came as a shock because she was only 33 and had no family history of breast cancer or known genetic risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cardarelli has since begun treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and recently shared photos from her hospital bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe first big step is behind me,\u201d she wrote, adding that she is taking the journey \u201cone day at a time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the fear and sadness, Cardarelli says her faith and loved ones have helped her through the difficult period. Her husband, Brian Parker, has remained by her side throughout appointments and difficult conversations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now, Cardarelli hopes her story will encourage other women to pay attention to changes in their bodies and advocate for themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou know your body better than anyone,\u201d she said. \u201cTrust your instincts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
