The update came weeks after Manilow revealed that doctors had discovered a cancerous spot on his left lung following a prolonged battle with bronchitis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After six weeks of bronchitis and another five-week relapse, his doctor ordered further tests to make sure everything was okay. The examination revealed the spot, which doctors believed had been detected early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Manilow explained that his medical team did not initially believe the cancer had spread. He said he needed surgery to remove it and hoped to avoid chemotherapy and radiation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
