Speaking to the Daily Mail<\/em> in an interview published October 28, Efferson said she expected Wonder to portray her as the person responsible for the conflict. She also described him as a \u201cgaslighter\u201d and a \u201cmanipulator,\u201d expressing frustration over the way the situation has unfolded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, legal documents submitted by Wonder\u2019s representatives present a different account. His attorneys allege that Efferson broke the terms of their arrangement by refusing to allow an insurance inspector into the property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Efferson told the Daily Mail<\/em> that she had not originally wanted the house, but claimed Wonder repeatedly encouraged her to accept it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She maintained that she never asked the singer for a property and was not motivated by material possessions. According to her account, the two eventually reached a verbal understanding that the home would belong to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wonder\u2019s legal complaint, filed with Los Angeles Superior Court on October 22, also acknowledges that a verbal arrangement existed. According to the filing, Efferson was permitted to live at the property beginning in 1988.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, the singer\u2019s legal team claims that she violated the agreement during the summer by refusing to cooperate with an insurance inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The disagreement has now developed into a court battle over whether the longstanding arrangement can be terminated and Efferson required to leave the home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the court filing, Efferson received an email on July 23 informing her that an insurance inspector was scheduled to visit the property on July 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The purpose of the visit was to help ensure that the home continued to meet the requirements for insurance coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wonder\u2019s attorneys allege that Efferson responded two days after receiving the email, saying she felt harassed and did not consent to the inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The complaint states that a 30-day eviction notice was posted the following day.
