After dinner, I suggested taking a family photograph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Everyone gathered near the living room window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sophie hesitated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShould I stand at the end?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amanda looked at her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou can stand wherever you want. I\u2019d love to stand next to you, if that\u2019s okay.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sophie considered it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I glanced toward the kitchen, where Sophie was eating breakfast, laughing at something Nate had said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI hope you remember this time,\u201d I told her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI will.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And when I looked at that final photograph again, I realized something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amanda hadn\u2019t needed a perfect wedding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\u2019d needed to remember that the people who loved her had never required her to be perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And neither had Sophie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
