Hannah Burcaw was a freshman at Carleton College in 2016 when she watched a documentary about Shane, who lives with spinal muscular atrophy, a genetic condition that affects nerve cells and severely limits mobility.

But rather than focusing on his challenges, Hannah was struck by Shane\u2019s humor and his ability to embrace life despite his condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, she decided to take a chance and sent him a cold email. It wasn\u2019t long before the two started dating. After years of navigating a long-distance relationship before eventually being together in person, Hannah and Shane took the next big step and got married in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent years, the couple has grown their Youtube channel, Squirmy and Grubs a lot. Today, they have more tha 18 million suscribers. Hannah and Shane mostly share what their life is life beinh in an interabled relationship.

The pair also has a weekly podcast Junkyard Mayhem<\/em> and previously revealed that many people found their relationship \u201cpeculiar\u201d

In January 2025, they released their first book, Interabled:<\/em>True Stories About Love and<\/em>Disability, from Squirmy & Grubs and Other Interabled Couples<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many followers have wondered more intimate details about their relatipship, and some assumed that Hannah had signed up for a life of both beinh childless as well as celibate. However, that\u2019s far from the truth.

\u201cIt\u2019s far from true. We have a satisfying intimate life, and both of us are interested in having children together down the road,\u201d Hannah and Shane said.

At the time they launched their Youtube channel, Shane previously revealed that they coildn\u2019t imagine how people would qustion their love for each other as mch as people did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re seen as asexual beings,\u201d Shane said. Hannah askedd wheter it was another misconception that his \u2018physical organs\u2019 don\u2019t work which perhaps was behind people\u2019s imagination that something wasn\u2019t right betwen them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell that,\u201d Shane continued, \u201cand they see my attraction, my ability to attract a parter as non-existent.\u201d

Hannah added, \u201c\u201dAnd even if you did, it wouldn\u2019t work. There\u2019s no physical way \u2013 because we get a lot of like, \u2018there\u2019s no physical way that they could, so they\u2019re lying-\u2018<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Announce pregnancy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Now, Hannah and Shane has shared some rather incredible news. On Wednesday, the couple shared the news that Hannah is pregnant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are beyond ecstatic to announce that we\u2019re expecting our first child this coming January!\u201d they wrote on Instagram.

\u201cHannah is 20 weeks pregnant, and although we\u2019ve been thoroughly enjoying this special time in privacy so far, we\u2019ve also missed sharing all the joy with you, and there\u2019s SO MUCH to share!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, Hannah and Shane wanted to show compassion for anyone who might be struggling emotionally after seeing their pregnancy announcement.
