My Son Left His Twins for a Two-Day Work Trip—8 Days Later, He Returned With a Little Girl

My son Daniel told me he was leaving for a two-day work trip and asked me to watch his six-year-old twins.

At first, I wasn’t worried. Daniel traveled for work occasionally, and he promised he would be back in two days.

But two days passed.

Then three.

Then four.

I called him repeatedly, but his phone went unanswered.

By the fifth day, I was terrified. I contacted his office, checked hospitals, and was close to calling the police.

Eight days after he left, Daniel finally came home.

But he wasn’t alone.

A frightened little girl, probably around five years old, stepped out of his car holding a stuffed rabbit.

She looked at me and quietly asked:

“Is that Grandma?”

Before I could respond, she turned toward Daniel.

“Dad, can I show her my room?”

I froze.

I looked at my son.

“Daniel… who is she?”

He stood there silently.

Before he could explain, my grandson ran into the house and returned with a drawing he had made weeks earlier.

It showed the twins standing beside a little girl wearing a yellow dress.

I stared at the picture.

“Who is that?” I asked.

My grandson looked at Daniel and whispered:

“She was at Dad’s house.”

My heart started pounding.

Daniel had never mentioned another child.

Then the little girl suddenly ran toward me and wrapped her arms around my waist.

“Please don’t make me go back,” she cried.

I knelt down beside her.

“Go back where, sweetheart?”

She didn’t answer.

Instead, she pointed toward Daniel’s car.

I slowly turned toward my son.

“Daniel, what is going on?”

He looked at his twins.

Then he looked at the little girl.

For eight days, I had been terrified that something terrible had happened to my son.

Now I realized the truth was something entirely different.

Daniel finally took a deep breath.

He told me where he had been, why he had disappeared, and how this little girl had become part of his life.

But the explanation raised even more questions.

Who was the little girl?

Why had Daniel never told us about her?

And most importantly, why was she so afraid to go back?

I looked at Daniel and waited for the truth.

What he finally told me about those eight missing days changed everything I thought I knew about my son.
