Mystery Deepens After Mom of 4 Dies in Horrifying SUV Crash Into Family Pool

A heartbreaking tragedy has left a Long Island family and school community searching for answers after a 40-year-old mother of four died following a terrifying SUV crash into a family swimming pool.

Allison Rahmani was driving a 2023 GMC SUV in the driveway of a home on Elinor Road in Hewlett, New York, shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 21, when she suddenly lost control.

According to Nassau County police, the SUV first struck a tree, then collided with an unoccupied 2006 Honda parked nearby.

But the vehicle continued moving.

It eventually crashed into the backyard and plunged into an in-ground swimming pool.

Rahmani was pulled from the SUV before officers arrived. Police then performed lifesaving measures before she was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

One detail made the tragedy even more puzzling: reports said Rahmani was still able to call 911 after the crash, and a source familiar with the family said she did not die from drowning.

So what caused her to suddenly lose control?

Sources close to the investigation reportedly told the New York Post that police believe Rahmani may have suffered a medical emergency shortly before the crash.

The exact nature of the suspected medical episode has not been publicly disclosed, and authorities have not announced an official medical cause of death. Police reportedly do not suspect foul play, while the investigation continues.

Rahmani was a teacher and math coordinator at the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway, where she was remembered as a caring educator devoted to her students.

She was also a wife and mother of four who had recently celebrated her 40th birthday.

Her death came just days before a planned family trip to Paris.

Instead of preparing for the trip, loved ones gathered for her funeral in Hewlett.

During the emotional service, her husband, Matthew Rahmani, honored her by reciting Eshet Chayil, the traditional “Woman of Valor” passage praising a wife and mother.

Family and friends remembered Allison for her love of her children, dedication to her students, and commitment to her community.

For now, many questions remain unanswered.

Investigators are still working to determine exactly what happened in the moments before her SUV struck the tree, hit the parked vehicle, and ended up in the family pool.

Her loved ones are left mourning a devastating loss that happened in a matter of seconds.
