According to his obituary, Douglas died suddenly on May 20. His sister, Meghan McCain, confirmed the heartbreaking news in an emotional post, remembering him as a joyful, funny and supportive brother.

Douglas was born in Pensacola, Florida, and grew up in Jacksonville. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1982 with a degree in Systems Engineering, where he met his wife, Ashley.
