Melissa Gilbert Moves Out of New York Home Amid Husband Timothy Busfield’s Legal Case

Melissa Gilbert is making a major change in her life as her husband, actor Timothy Busfield, continues to face serious legal challenges.

The 62-year-old Little House on the Prairie star recently revealed that she is leaving her longtime one-bedroom apartment on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, a home she had lived in for eight years.

In an emotional Instagram post, Gilbert shared photos of boxes being packed and rooms being emptied. She described the apartment as a special chapter of her life and said she would miss the neighborhood, friends, local businesses and the energy of New York City.

Gilbert said she and her husband are now planning to live in their home upstate full time “for a good long while.”

The move comes as Busfield faces criminal charges in New Mexico involving allegations of sexual contact with a child under 13. He has denied the allegations, pleaded not guilty and is seeking dismissal of the indictment. The case remains ongoing.

Gilbert has publicly stood by her husband. In an April interview, she said she was “100% confident” that Busfield would be cleared and that she believed his account of what happened.

While Gilbert did not directly connect her move to the legal case, the timing has drawn attention from fans and the public.

For Gilbert, the move appears to mark the end of one chapter—and the beginning of another far from the city she called home for eight years.
