Colombian Music Star Yeison Jiménez Dies at 34 in Tragic Plane Crash

Colombian singer-songwriter Yeison Jiménez, one of the biggest names in música popular, has died at just 34.

The singer was among six people aboard a small aircraft that crashed on January 10, 2026, shortly after taking off from Paipa, Colombia. The plane was traveling toward Medellín, where Jiménez was scheduled to continue his journey to a concert in Marinilla that evening.

The aircraft, registered N325FA, crashed in a rural area between Paipa and Duitama in Colombia’s Boyacá region. Authorities confirmed that all six people aboard were killed.

Jiménez was traveling with members of his team. The other victims were identified as Fernando Torres, the pilot, along with Jefferson Osorio, Juan Manuel Rodríguez, Óscar Marín and Weisman Mora.

The aircraft went down shortly after takeoff and was destroyed by fire. Authorities launched an investigation to determine exactly what caused the crash. At the time of the initial reports, the precise cause had not been established.

Jiménez had become one of Colombia’s most recognizable música popular artists. Known for emotional songs about love, heartbreak, struggle and perseverance, he built a huge following and helped bring the genre to a wider audience.

Born in Manzanares, Caldas, in 1991, Jiménez rose from a difficult upbringing to become a successful singer and songwriter. His music connected deeply with fans because of its personal and emotional storytelling.

His final performance came just one night before the crash, when he performed in Málaga, Santander. He was scheduled to perform again in Marinilla the following day.

Jiménez leaves behind his wife and three children.

His sudden death has left fans and Colombia’s music community mourning a performer whose career was still growing and whose life was cut tragically short.

He was only 34.
