Before Her Death, Dolly Parton Revealed the Name She Had Chosen for Her Unborn Daughter

Dolly Parton and Carl Dean were married for nearly 60 years, but they never had children of their own.

Dolly later explained that choosing her career meant making sacrifices, including motherhood. Still, she once revealed that she and Carl had imagined what their daughter might be like—and they had already chosen a beautiful name for her.

Dolly said that if they had welcomed a girl, they would have named her Carla.

She also believed that not having children gave her the freedom to dedicate her life to helping others. In 1995, she created the Imagination Library, a program that has provided hundreds of millions of free books to children around the world.

Her dream of becoming a mother never came true, but she found another way to make a difference in the lives of millions of children.

Rest in peace, Dolly. ❤️
