‘Dawson’s Creek’ Star Reveals She Had a Brain Tumor

Actress Busy Philipps, known for her role on Dawson’s Creek, has revealed that she recently faced a terrifying health battle after doctors discovered a brain tumor.

Earlier this year, Philipps underwent a full-body MRI scan. She almost canceled the appointment, but after encouragement from her ex-husband, she decided to go through with it.

The scan revealed a lesion on her brain. A second MRI confirmed what she feared: it was a real tumor, and doctors said it needed to be removed.

Philipps was diagnosed with a 2.6-centimeter grade 2 oligodendroglioma, a rare and slow-growing type of brain tumor. Doctors explained that although it is considered malignant, it generally has a more favorable prognosis than other malignant gliomas.

She underwent a five-hour surgery on March 2 to remove the tumor and was able to return home just two days later.

But her ordeal wasn’t over.

When she later visited her dermatologist for Botox, the doctor noticed that her surgical incision didn’t look right and immediately urged her to contact her surgeons. That warning led to the discovery of a serious infection.

Philipps needed antibiotics, another hospital stay, and an additional surgery after staphylococcus was found in the incision.

Looking back on everything she experienced, Philipps says she feels incredibly fortunate to be alive.

Her story is a powerful reminder that sometimes an unexpected medical check can uncover something you never knew was there.
