Joe Biden Shares Health Update After Prostate Cancer Diagnosis — And Warns Others

Former President Joe Biden has shared a hopeful update on his prostate cancer treatment, saying radiation therapy he underwent last fall “worked as intended.”

The 83-year-old former president shared the update on September 8, 2026, during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

Biden thanked the doctors, nurses, and medical professionals who have cared for him and urged men not to delay conversations about prostate cancer screening.

“Talk to your doctors. Ask the hard questions,” Biden wrote.

He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer in May 2025 after the disease had spread to his bones.

His latest update offers encouragement, but he did not provide detailed information about his current prognosis.

The American Cancer Society recommends that men discuss prostate cancer screening with their doctors around age 50 if they are at average risk. Black men and those with a family history may need to start earlier.
