My Mother-in-Law Invited 20 Extra People to Thanksgiving Without Asking Me — She Had No Idea I’d Made One Tiny Change

For eight years, my mother-in-law Diane treated Thanksgiving at my house like it was her own. She rearranged everything, criticized my cooking, changed the seating, and invited people without asking.

My husband always told me, “Just let her have this one day. It’s easier.”

This year, Diane crossed the line.

While preparing Thanksgiving dinner, I discovered she had invited nearly 20 extra people to our home.

She hadn’t asked me.

Neither had my husband.

When I confronted him, he simply said, “It’s my mom. Can we just get through Thursday?”

I booked a private room at a nearby restaurant for the people I had actually invited.
