Former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is facing criticism after sharing behind-the-scenes details about Donald Trump’s private conversations with foreign leaders during an appearance on Sean Hannity’s podcast.
Leavitt described a private lunch with Trump and former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, saying Trump openly criticized Starmer’s immigration policies during the meal. She also discussed tense conversations involving other world leaders and said Trump’s private remarks often match what he later says publicly.
But Newsmax host Greg Kelly sharply criticized Leavitt for discussing the private meetings publicly, calling it a “breach of trust” and accusing her of “gossiping” about conversations involving the president and world leaders.
Leavitt has defended her account as an explanation of how Trump operates behind closed doors. Trump himself has not publicly responded to Kelly’s criticism in the reporting reviewed here.
