A Delivery Driver Left 4 Words on Our Ring Camera — They Saved My Baby

For months, I thought Megan was the perfect babysitter.

She arrived early, knew every detail of my one-year-old son’s routine, and constantly sent me pictures of him laughing and playing.

My son adored her.

But lately, something had changed.

Some afternoons he was unusually sleepy. Sometimes he barely reacted when I came home.

Megan always had an explanation.

“He wore himself out.”

“He’s probably going through a growth spurt.”

I believed her.

Then one Thursday, I received a Ring notification.

Our camera microphone had been broken for months, so I couldn’t hear what the delivery driver was saying.

He placed our packages down, walked toward his truck, then suddenly stopped.

He stared toward our trash cans.

Then he hurried back to the camera, grabbed a piece of cardboard, and wrote four words:

“CHECK YOUR TRASH CAN.”

My stomach dropped.

I immediately called my husband, Ryan.

Minutes later, we were standing beside the trash.

Ryan opened the lid.

At first, there was nothing unusual.

Then he found several small medicine bottles.

One was children’s cough syrup.

Another was an over-the-counter sleep medication.

Neither of us had bought them.

Even worse, the pharmacy bag had Megan’s name on it.

We rushed inside.

Megan was standing near the kitchen.

“Where’s my son?”

“He’s upstairs sleeping.”

I ran to his room.

He was lying in his crib.

I touched his arm.

He barely moved.

I picked him up.

Normally, waking him from a nap meant crying, squirming, and grabbing my hair.

This time, his body felt frighteningly heavy.

We rushed him to the emergency room.

Doctors discovered he had been exposed to a sedating medication.

The hospital contacted the police.

Investigators later questioned Megan.

At first, she denied everything.

Then her story changed.

Finally, she admitted she had been giving my son small amounts of medication to make him sleep.

The first time, she said, he wouldn’t nap and she became frustrated.

When she saw how easily he fell asleep, she did it again.

And again.

She insisted she never meant to hurt him.

But she had repeatedly given a one-year-old medication he didn’t need.

My son eventually recovered.

And we learned who had saved him.

The delivery driver, Andre, had seen Megan carrying a bag toward our trash.

One of the medicine bottles had fallen out.

He didn’t know exactly what was happening, but something about it didn’t feel right.

He tried speaking to us through the Ring camera before, but our microphone was broken.

This time, he made sure we understood.

“CHECK YOUR TRASH CAN.”

Months later, our Ring microphone was finally repaired.

Andre came to deliver another package.

Before leaving, he looked directly into the camera.

“I hope the little guy is doing okay.”

Ryan answered through the intercom.

“He is. Because of you.”

Andre smiled and walked away.

For months, I thought he was just another delivery driver.

I never imagined four words from a stranger would save my child’s life.
