My Husband Protected His Mistress, Then Demanded I Stay by His Side — So I Filed for Divorce and Flew to Boston

My husband Grant was hospitalized after getting injured while protecting another woman—the same woman he had repeatedly called his “poor” friend.
While he was recovering, he expected me to stay beside his hospital bed, handle everything, and continue taking care of him.
Instead, I signed the divorce papers and boarded a flight to Boston.
When I landed, I had one suitcase, a bandaged hand, and 93 missed calls.
Grant was furious.
“How could you leave while I’m still in the hospital?”
I reminded him that I had already handled everything necessary: his surgery paperwork, hospital arrangements, medications, and family notifications.
But he still expected me to come back.
So I finally told him the truth.
“You’re safe. Your family is there. Your care is arranged. I’ve done my part.”
Then I told him something he never expected to hear:
“Camille Brooks will contact your attorney today.”
“The divorce.”
Grant went silent.
His mother, Judith, was even worse.
She called me demanding to know how I could abandon her son after everything the family had “provided” for me.
What she didn’t know was that I had been quietly paying for far more than they realized.
The household nutritionist.
Private therapy.
Specialists.
Transportation.
Medical expenses.
Even the meals they assumed simply appeared.
So I canceled every automatic payment.
Not out of revenge.
I simply stopped financing a life I was no longer living.
Then Grant sent me one final message:
“What are you doing?”
I stared at the screen before giving him the answer I had been too afraid to say for years:
“Stopping. Living your life for you.”
And that was only the beginning.
