My Husband Took Me Back to Our Honeymoon Hotel After 40 Years—Then the Receptionist Recognized Him

After 40 years of marriage, my husband Robert surprised me by taking me back to the hotel where we spent our honeymoon.
The moment we walked in, the receptionist smiled at him.
“Welcome back.”
I laughed.
“We haven’t been here in forty years.”
Her smile disappeared.
She looked at Robert.
“Oh… I thought Mr. Harris had stayed with us more recently.”
Robert immediately said she had mistaken him for someone else.
But then she checked her computer.
“Same name,” she whispered.
And then she said something that made my stomach drop:
“Mr. Harris usually asks for the same room.”
Usually?
Robert quickly interrupted her and asked for our room keys.
That night, I confronted him.
“You’ve stayed here without me?”
“No.”
“Then why does she know you?”
“She’s mistaken.”
I wanted to believe him.
But the next morning, I went downstairs alone.
The receptionist refused to tell me anything—until she quietly admitted:
“Your husband asked me not to discuss his previous visits with you.”
My heart sank.
That evening, I found a note hidden beneath my dinner plate.
“I know your husband’s secret. 11 p.m. Back entrance. Come alone.”
At 11, I met a waiter outside.
He told me he had seen Robert at the hotel several times.
“With another woman?” I asked.
“A young woman.”
My heart broke.
But then he said something that made no sense.
“You think they were having an affair?”
I nodded.
“No.”
He explained that Robert always booked the room under his own name—but he never actually went upstairs.
“Then why was he paying for her room?” I asked.
The waiter opened his mouth to answer.
Before he could speak, I heard a familiar voice behind me.
Robert.
“You really want to know?”
