Mother and Daughter Die of Cancer Just 10 Hours Apart — A Father’s Unimaginable Loss

A Brazilian family is mourning an unimaginable tragedy after 28-year-old Cibele Marchis and her mother, 56-year-old Maria Elisabete Nogueira, died of cancer just 10 hours apart.

Cibele died at a hospital in Mogi Guaçu, Brazil, on September 24. Her mother, who was also seriously ill, passed away the following morning.

Their deaths left Cibele’s father without his wife and only child in a matter of hours.

In a heartbreaking twist, neither mother nor daughter knew the other had died. According to relatives, they had previously asked their family not to tell them if one passed away first because neither wanted to experience the pain of losing the other.

Cibele was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive adrenal cancer in 2024, when she was just 26. The disease led to multiple surgeries, a serious infection that required 20 days in intensive care, and chemotherapy.

Despite her difficult journey, she continued sharing updates about her treatment and her perspective on life with her followers.

Her mother later received a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, meaning both women were fighting serious illnesses at the same time. Their conditions worsened, and they were hospitalized at separate facilities in the same city.

After their deaths, the family held a joint funeral ceremony, laying the mother and daughter to rest together.

Cibele’s cousin described the devastating reality facing her father, saying he had lost his entire immediate family.

The tragedy has touched many people, not only because the deaths occurred so close together, but because of the deep bond between a mother and her only daughter.

Their story is a heartbreaking reminder of the love they shared and the unimaginable grief their family now faces.
