‘Scream’ Actor C.W. Morgan Dies at 72 — His Daughter Shares an Emotional Tribute

Horror fans are mourning the loss of actor C.W. Morgan, best known for playing Hank Loomis in the original Scream and its 2000 sequel, Scream 3. He was 72 years old.
Morgan, whose full name was Curtis Wade Morgan, reportedly died on August 30 in Los Angeles County. His daughter, Renata Macfie, confirmed his passing in a heartfelt social media tribute.
In her emotional message, Macfie shared how deeply she would miss her father, remembering their drives along Mulholland and their Starbucks outings. She also recalled his jokes and the special memories they shared, expressing gratitude for having him as her dad.
The official cause of death had not been publicly confirmed in the reports, and the circumstances remained under investigation.
Morgan began his acting career in the early 1990s, appearing in television productions before landing the role that made him recognizable to horror audiences.
In Wes Craven’s 1996 horror classic Scream, Morgan played Hank Loomis, the father of Billy Loomis, portrayed by Skeet Ulrich. Although his role was relatively small, Hank’s troubled family history became an important part of the film’s central mystery.
The character returned briefly in Scream 3 in 2000, appearing in a flashback connected to the events surrounding Sidney Prescott and her family.
Beyond the Scream franchise, Morgan appeared in the 1997 film Metro and contributed his voice to the video game The Last Express. His final known acting credit was an episode of Nash Bridges in 2000.
Though his time on screen was limited, Morgan played a part in one of horror cinema’s most recognizable franchises.
For his daughter, however, he was much more than an actor. He was a beloved father whose absence leaves behind memories, love, and a loss that words can hardly express.
