Dolly Parton’s CMA tribute is giving back to the cause nearest to her heart.
She launched the Imagination Library in 1995 because her daddy never learned how to read. It sends a free book every month to children from birth to age five, and it has mailed more than 343 million books.
After the tribute aired on October 21, the CMA announced a $1 million gift to the program, with Belmont University, Disney, and Nashville contributing too. Disney also donated its share from the “9 to 5” movie re-release.
Somewhere, a little one is receiving a new book in the mail, and that is exactly how Dolly would want to be remembered.
