Shane and Hannah Burcaw Address Pregnancy Rumors as They Prepare to Welcome Their First Child

Shane and Hannah Burcaw are sharing more details about their journey toward parenthood while responding to online comments about Hannah’s pregnancy bump.
The couple, who have openly discussed their life in an interabled relationship, announced in September that they were expecting their first child. Hannah is able-bodied, while Shane lives with a severe muscle-wasting condition.
The announcement marked an exciting new chapter for the pair, who said they were looking forward to welcoming their baby in January.
“We are beyond ecstatic to announce that we’re expecting our first child this coming January!” they shared in their announcement.
At the time, Hannah was 20 weeks pregnant. The couple explained that they had enjoyed keeping the experience private for a while but were now ready to share more of their journey with their followers.
Shane and Hannah Respond to Comments About the Baby Bump
Since announcing the pregnancy, the couple has continued documenting the experience online.
In a recent video, they revealed that they were approaching the third trimester. They also addressed comments from viewers who questioned why Hannah did not appear to have a larger pregnancy bump.
Shane quickly challenged those observations, making it clear that he could see the change himself.
“I guarantee you with my own god-given eyes, she looks pregnant right now. There’s a big old belly there,” he said.
Hannah also explained why her bump might look smaller than some people expected. Standing nearly six feet tall, she suggested that her height could affect how her pregnancy appears.
“I’m almost 6 feet tall. So this, you know, there’s a lot of vertical room for baby. They don’t need to go out as far as if I was shorter. So that’s definitely why I have less of a bump,” she explained.
Her comments offered a straightforward response to the speculation, highlighting how pregnancy can look different from one person to another.
Shane Opens Up About His Concerns Over Fatherhood
Beyond sharing the lighter moments of pregnancy, Shane has also spoken honestly about some of the worries he has as he prepares to become a father.
One of his biggest concerns involves how his physical condition might affect the way he interacts with his child.
In an earlier social media post, he admitted that he sometimes wonders how much physical involvement he will be able to have as his baby grows.
“One of my biggest worries about having children is the extent to which I’ll be able to physically interact with them,” he wrote.
His comments revealed a more personal side of the journey, as he considers the practical challenges that could come with parenting while living with a disability.
Feeling the Baby Move Was an Unforgettable Moment
Despite those concerns, Shane has also experienced moments that have made the upcoming arrival feel even more real.
In a recent video, he described his reaction after feeling the baby kick, expressing amazement at the experience.
“It’s the most wild thing in the world to feel it moving around in there,” he said.
The moment offered a glimpse into the excitement the couple is experiencing as they prepare to meet their child.
Shane has also explained that he understands parenting involves much more than physical care. Emotional support, communication, learning and love are all essential parts of raising a child.
Those ideas have become particularly important as he thinks about the kind of father he hopes to be.
Conversations With Other Interabled Parents Offer Reassurance
Shane and Hannah have also been speaking with other couples in interabled relationships to hear about their experiences of raising children.
According to Shane, those conversations have helped ease some of his worries and given him a broader perspective on fatherhood.
“One thing that has made me feel good is that they are reminding me that so much of parenting is not the physical stuff,” he said.
He acknowledged that babies need physical care, but emphasized that raising a child also involves nurturing their emotional and intellectual development.
“A human being, yes, needs physical care as a baby, but a lot of parenting is about the mind and emotions and learning and love,” Shane explained.
As their due date approaches, the couple continues to share both the excitement and the uncertainties that come with preparing for their first child. Their updates offer an honest look at pregnancy, the questions they face and the reassurance they have found through conversations with other parents.
