Barbara Rush, the award-winning actress whose career spanned decades in film and television, has passed away at the age of 97. Known for her elegance, talent, and timeless screen presence, Rush became one of Hollywood’s most admired stars during the golden age of cinema.

Her daughter, journalist Claudia Cowan, confirmed that Rush died peacefully, sharing heartfelt words: “It was peaceful when my wonderful mother died this evening at 5:28. I was with her this morning and know she was waiting for me to get home safely to transition.”

Barbara Rush first rose to fame in the early 1950s, earning a Golden Globe for her performance in It Came From Outer Space (1953). She went on to star in notable films including Magnificent Obsession, Bigger Than Life, and The Young Philadelphians. On television, she became a familiar face in series such as Peyton Place, The Love Boat, and 7th Heaven, captivating audiences with her charm and versatility.

Beyond her career, Rush was admired for her grace and resilience. She shared the screen with Hollywood legends such as Marlon Brando, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Paul Newman, leaving behind a remarkable legacy that influenced generations of actors and film lovers.

Barbara Rush’s passing marks the end of an era, but her work and memory will continue to inspire. She is survived by her family, friends, and countless fans who will forever remember her as a true icon of classic Hollywood.
