I Found This Strange Worm in My Yard… Then I Looked Closer 🪱😳

At first glance, it looked like an ordinary worm crawling through the yard.

But when I looked closer, something about its strange, flattened body and wide, hammer-shaped head immediately stood out.

It may have been a hammerhead flatworm—a predator that is very different from the harmless earthworms we usually see in gardens.

Unlike earthworms, hammerhead flatworms hunt small invertebrates and can even prey on earthworms and other creatures living in the soil.

That’s why correctly identifying an unfamiliar creature can be important. Something that looks like a simple garden worm may actually be a completely different species.

Nature is full of strange surprises, and sometimes they’re hiding right beneath our feet. 🌿👀
