Fans Thought These Two Actors Were the Same Person for Years 😳

For years, viewers watching Smallville and the X-Men movies may have thought they were looking at the same actor.

But they weren’t.

They were identical twins Aaron and Shawn Ashmore.

Born in British Columbia in 1979, the brothers began acting at a young age after a talent agent approached their mother. Their resemblance was so strong that even casting directors sometimes struggled to tell them apart.

In fact, when both brothers auditioned for the same role, casting decisions were sometimes settled with a coin toss because directors liked them equally.

As they grew older, however, they built separate careers.

Shawn Ashmore became widely known as Iceman in the X-Men films and also appeared in shows including The Rookie and The Following.

Meanwhile, Aaron Ashmore played Jimmy Olsen on Smallville and later appeared in Warehouse 13, Killjoys, and Ginny & Georgia.

And here’s the funny part…

Even today, fans still mix them up.

Some viewers watching Aaron in Ginny & Georgia genuinely believed they were seeing Shawn from The Rookie.

With nearly identical faces—and both brothers appearing in sci-fi, superhero, and television roles—it’s easy to understand why so many people spent years confusing them.
