Tim Curry Has Died at 80 — The Cause of Death Has Now Been Revealed

Fans of one of Hollywood’s most unforgettable performers are mourning the loss of Tim Curry, the legendary actor known for roles that terrified, entertained and fascinated generations.

Curry died peacefully at his Los Angeles home on August 25 at the age of 80.

Eight days later, his cause of death was revealed.

According to documents obtained from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Curry died from coronary artery disease. The records also listed a previous stroke and kidney cancer as significant conditions that contributed to his death.

For millions of fans, however, Curry will always be remembered for the characters that made him impossible to forget.

He became a cult icon as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, bringing an unforgettable energy to one of cinema’s most famous musical characters.

Then, in 1990, he terrified an entirely different generation as Pennywise the Dancing Clown in Stephen King’s It.

But his career was much bigger than those two roles.

Curry also appeared in Clue, Legend, Home Alone 2, Annie, The Three Musketeers, Muppet Treasure Island, Congo and many other films and television projects.

He was also an accomplished stage performer and voice actor, earning Tony Award nominations and a Daytime Emmy for his work.

In 2012, Curry suffered a major stroke that permanently affected his mobility. Even after that devastating health crisis, he continued connecting with fans and celebrating the career he had built over decades.
