Barry Manilow, 82, Shares Hospital Selfie After Lung Cancer Diagnosis—His Message Has Fans Cheering Him On

Music legend Barry Manilow has shared an encouraging health update with fans after revealing that he was diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer.

The 82-year-old singer, famous for hits like Mandy and Copacabana, posted a selfie from his hospital bed wearing a green hospital gown. His short caption offered a reassuring message: “Better Today!”

The update came weeks after Manilow revealed that doctors had discovered a cancerous spot on his left lung following a prolonged battle with bronchitis.

After six weeks of bronchitis and another five-week relapse, his doctor ordered further tests to make sure everything was okay. The examination revealed the spot, which doctors believed had been detected early.

Manilow explained that his medical team did not initially believe the cancer had spread. He said he needed surgery to remove it and hoped to avoid chemotherapy and radiation.

The singer also admitted that the diagnosis was frightening, especially because his mother had died of lung cancer. However, he expressed gratitude that his doctors had acted quickly.

His recovery has not been entirely easy. He later revealed that he had developed pneumonia and spent a week in intensive care. Although he has made progress, he acknowledged that his voice and lungs still needed time to recover.

As a result, some of his Las Vegas performances were postponed while he focused on his health. Despite the setbacks, Manilow remained hopeful about returning to the stage and seeing his fans again.

Messages of support poured in from fellow musicians and longtime admirers, many encouraging him to take the time he needs to recover.

After more than five decades in music, Manilow continues to hold a special place in the hearts of millions. His songs have accompanied generations through love, heartbreak, and life’s most memorable moments.

For now, his priority is healing—and his latest message has given fans another reason to remain hopeful.

Fans around the world are wishing Barry Manilow strength, comfort, and a full recovery. ❤️
