1-Year-Old Boy Dies After Crawling Onto Florida Road While Family Worked Outside

A Florida family has been left devastated after their 1-year-old son was struck by a vehicle and killed after wandering away from home while his parents were doing yard work.
The heartbreaking accident happened Friday afternoon in Jonesville, Florida, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The parents were working outside their home when the young boy managed to wander away without them realizing he was missing.
When they noticed he was gone, they immediately began searching nearby areas where he normally spent time. But during those brief moments, the child had made his way onto a nearby road.
Driver Was Unable to Avoid the Child
As the toddler crawled onto the roadway, a driver traveling along the road reportedly did not see him in time to avoid hitting him.
The child was rushed to a local hospital following the collision. Sadly, medical staff were unable to save him, and he was later pronounced dead.
The incident was also reported by local media outlets, citing information from authorities.
No Charges Expected
The Florida Highway Patrol said charges are not expected against either the driver or the child’s parents.
The circumstances surrounding the incident have left a family facing an unimaginable loss. What began as an ordinary afternoon of outdoor work ended in a tragedy that changed their lives forever.
Young children can move away from adults in only a matter of moments, making supervision especially important near roads and other potentially dangerous areas.
